Whenever I listen to Joy Division, I am washed over by this immense feeling of beautiful and terrible sadness. Their music, good god. It's wonderful. The fucking lyrics, the fucking instrumentals, the fucking vocals. Listening to them reminds me that they are no longer a group. Sure, there's New Order, who a wonderful group with wonderful music as well. But, they are lacking the charisma and talent of the great Ian Curtis. That man, he embodied pure performance. He was the father of the post-punk movement.
Whenever I think about him and everything he endured before he took his own life, I feel like crying for his memory, his pained being.
It is such a horrible thing that the masters of art and craft are always the ones who suffer the most.
